Project name: Kampfer Apfelsine
Description: Intended to be “one strike,” fast assault mobile suit unit, the MS-18E Kampfer was built and designed to be armed to the tooth with heavy artillery and loaded with thrusters and verniers for maximum maneuverability. However, it was only made into a prototype. Imagine if it was massed produced, taking on the frontlines or deployed for specialized assault attacks, such as guerilla warfare, the mass-produced Kampfer Apfelsine would be a formidable force on the battlefield. Concept: The Kampfer Apfelsine was inspired by the iconic Caterpillar P-5000 Powered Work Loader Robot from the initial installment of the Alien movie franchise. The Power Loader, as it is commonly referred to, was used in the film for heavy lifting work, designed as a commercialized mechanical exoskeleton. It is brightly painted and was widely used in all starships in the movie. Protagonist Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) fought a Queen using this suit, going toe-to-toe, with the Xenomorph matriach. Coming off from this idea, grit chose Orange (Apselfine is another German word for the color) as it’s primary paint coat. A fan of metallic finishes, he fashioned the Gogo kit, into a grunt worker, a frontliner fighter, fashioning decals to imitate fighter jet insignia designs.
Paints used, Bosny (Yanmar bronze) and Tamiya Spray paints (metallic orange, gunmetal, light gunmetal and purple). Follow grit on Instagram: @gritgunpla
