From the modeler…
This challenge was the nudge I needed to finish, it’s a retro kit and a great opportunity for me to try something different/new. I must say it was a wonderful learning experience, due to I attempted a few things for the first time. My key goal for this $5 kit was to make it display shelf worthy.
I’ve been wanting to try to add plastic plating for a while, due to the only mods I have really done so far was add some builders parts on kits.
Looking at the design of this MS and the title of the challenge “retro”,
I instantly had a images of Chinese opera characters and so I decided to run with that for the plating design and extend the skirt armour. For additional details I added a number of different shapes and arranged them in a patterns around the MS.
My attempt of this inferno flame effects was to create drama interest on such a large surface. Due to the thin plastic plate scribing wasn’t really an option.
It was really a fun challenge and I felt like I grew a bit as a modeler.
Rather than just collecting them, I will look to build more retro kits in the future for a change of pace. Once again thanks for the tips and support from the club. I am happy with how it turned out and hope you enjoy it as well.
